Good Practices : System i5 Performance Tips & Tuning

IT service delivery is greatly influenced by the level of performance the applications deliver. Engineering for the best performance of any platform, including System i, becomes more and more critical : end user demands are growing and technology evolution is expanding at a pace that does not allow us to always play catch up with it. This technology covers all kind of aspects, including, but not limited to hardware configurations, processor and memory capacity, work management tuning, application coexistence and scalability, database optimization, communications management, etc. It also requires skills and tools that allow to predict performance, align it to the business requirements and manage servers in an end-to-end environment. This environment is typically composed of several types of applications and their supporting hardware and software layers.

During this pitch we will cover a number of "burning" issues, specifically focusing on how to size or validate sizing exercises, on how to set up a System i environment and on how and using which tools to measure and plan for system resources.
