About Craig Johnson
Craig is the Product Manager for i5/OS and virtualization technologies for the IBM Power Systems platform. He is responsible for understanding the market requirements, driving product enhancements, and delivering new product offerings. Prior to joining the product management team, Craig was team leader in the AS/400 Competitive Marketing department. Before moving to Rochester, Craig held numerous technical and management positions in the IBM sales organization.

About Jarek Miszczyk
Jarek Miszczyk is a Senior Software Engineer at the ISV Solutions Enablement organization in Rochester, MN. He has been with IBM for 15 years. His mission is to provide consulting services to ISVs, large IBM Clients, and other IBM organizations on DB2 for i5/OS related issues. He also writes extensively and teaches IBM classes in all areas of the System i database. Before joining the ISV Solutions Enablement organization in 2000, he has worked for several years at the IBM ITSO in Rochester, where he was the leading author of several popular database Redbooks. Jarek holds a Masters degree in computer science and has over 18 years of experience in the computer field. His areas of expertise include cross-platform database programming, database performance tuning, and database integration with emerging technologies (XML, Java, Microsoft .NET).

About Dawn May
Dawn May is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota. Dawn's current position is the technical lead for the IBM i Systems Software Development organization and IBM i Business Architect. In this position she has the responsibility for the overall strategy and plan for the core components of i. Dawn also has technical leadership responsibilities for i performance and diagnostic tools; she led the development of the 6.1 performance tools enhancements, which includes the new "Performance" tasks in the IBM Systems Director Navigator for i5/OS Web console. Past responsibilities include testing, SNA and TCP/ IP communications development , service tools development, and work management development.

About Alison Butterill
Alison works on the Power Systems Software Team which has responsibility for all of the various software product offerings for IBM i. Her responsibilities include Application Development Offerings and other IBM i functional areas. Alison is an IBM Certified Consulting I/T Specialist; certified in Application Development, WebSphere and System i. In her present position, Alison is working with a variety of teams to develop strategic direction and offerings for developers on the IBM i. Having worked in the mid-range area for more than 25 years, Alison has held a wide variety of positions at IBM, primarily with midrange servers and software. She has held a range of positions including field Systems Engineer, an instructor in Customer Technical Education, national support representative for IBM Canada, and Worldwide Technical Marketing support representative for the development tools and compilers from the IBM Toronto Laboratory. Alison is a regular speaker at user groups, technical conferences, COMMON events and IBM customers in many countries around the world. She holds numerous Speaker Excellence medals from COMMON North America.

About Session #1 - 2008 Annoucement Overview by Craig Johnson
2008 has been a very busy year for IBM i and Power Systems. Version 6.1 was announced in January and delivered in March. April saw the announcement of a single hardware platform for running AIX, i and Linux. This presentation will provide the details behind all of these announcements.

About Session #2 - Blades and i by Craig Johnson
Come learn the details of the new IBM i on POWER blade solution! This session will explain the technologies involved and how they are implemented. The discussion will include the areas of hardware configuration, Virtual I/ O Server, storage considerations and installing i on the POWER blade.

About Session #3 - Rational Developer for i by Alison Butterill
Rational Developer for System i (RDi) now includes the graphical Application Diagram and Screen Designer tools previously only shipped in the advanced edition of WDSC. The Application Diagram creates diagrams that represent the structure of RPG, COBOL and CL applications; providing both a call graph view and an ILE bindings view. The Screen Designer Technology Preview provides a graphical, point and click way to design DDS display files. This session provides a demonstration of the many current and upcoming features of the Application Diagram and Screen Designer, including their seamless integration with the latest RDi tools, such as the Remote Systems Lpex editor.

About Session #4 - Integrated Web Application Server for IBM i by Dawn May
The IBM i integrated Web application server introduces a Web-servlet container into IBM i. This Web container includes the basics for getting Servlet and JSP applications up and running quickly and effectively on the Web. The integrated Web application server is a good place to prototype new applications or to run existing small-footprint or low-use applications. You can consider the integrated Web application server as an entry point to the Web. Administration is easy and straight forward using the Web Administration for i graphical user interface (GUI). Since this Web container is part of the operating system, there are no additional products to install and maintenance is handled via PTFs. Learn how this friendly Web container can quickly and easily get you started on the road to the Web.
